Where?

Welcome back!

Today me and my group have been thinking deeply about where we want to shoot our portfolio project. We have all been using google maps to scout areas quickly. If we were to go to each place one by one and see it ourselves it would take so long. If we see a valuable place through google maps to shoot it then we will personally go and see it.

As of now, we are most likely going to use Aaron's house because he has a pool, gaming areas and many fun activities. Also, he has a movie theater in his house. He has a huge house and it would be perfect to film it there. We have already envisioned where some specific shots would be filmed and we see huge potential there.

We still haven't decided anything concrete yet but it is looking like Aaron's house is our best option.

COLORS

Hey there!

Thank you for tuning back into the blog. Today I will be talking about the colors we will utilize throughout our film that will have a significant importance on the feeling we are trying to create. At the beginning of our 2 minute opening film we will be introducing all of the characters that will be involved throughout the movie. When we show the characters we are going to put a tinted background that will represent his personality.

Moreover, the character that is angry most of the time and loves starting chaos will have a red background. As red is the color associated with danger and problem. The character that is mostly happy and always has a positive attitude will have a yellow background, due to the fact that yellow is the color of happiness. One of the characters is going to be very shy, sad, and mostly in a down mood. This character will have a blue background, as it is the color of sadness and depression.

On to the next blog!

Target Audience

Welcome back to the journey!!!

Today we have to talk about one of the most important parts of the process. Not being able to identify the target audience would be a huge lose due to the fact that we would market it to the wrong people and get no sales. My group and I believe we have found our perfect target audience. We are going to have a funny film, with anticipation and excitement. It consists of a group of friends that throw a party when their parents aren't home.

With all of that information, we assessed that we would target an audience of neutral gender from the ages of 13-21. We would market our film a lot through TikTok because it is the social media platform that this generation is mostly one. It wouldn't be wise to market our film in Facebook because no one from that age range uses that platform. We will get into the more specifics of our marketing strategies at another time.

Until next time!!!

The Struggles!!

 Welcome back!!

This week hasn't been great in any shape or form. Not only for our group but also for everyone in the school. Today we were in the second lockdown of the week due to a suspicious and dangerous item found around the school. All of the students have been extremely worried and not wanting to go to school.

Unfortunately, the days that we have had lockdown have been the days we had our AICE media class. This has resulted in our group barely getting any work done. We have tried to facetime and get work done but it is so hard to get all our schedules aligned. Even when we are able to get on a call it is difficult to hear each other out because we all talk on top of each other.

For the remainder of this week we are going to get as much work done as possible and discuss crucial pieces for our film, for example, the specific shots, name organization, and costume design.

Thank you so much for tuning back in! You will hear from me tomorrow.

Characters

 Hello everyone!

I have been doing a lot of research and planning for what type of characters we would involve in our portfolio project. The first character we would create would be the protagonist. We want a teenager around the age of 19, with a very relaxed and funny personality. He is the one that came up with the idea of having a party at his house, so he is extremely rebellious and doesn't fear his parents. Also, he needs to appear dumb because he is the one that is going to get lost. Some physical characteristics of the protagonist are brown hair, brown eyes, tattoos, and a strong bulky build. The tattoos are crucial for this character because it gives the perception that he is a rebellious kid.

The second character would be the protagonists younger brother, he will be 17 years of age. They'll have a close bond and he'd do anything for his older brother. When the protagonist gets lost, he is going to be the one that gets more worried and tries to lead the search operation. He is going to have brown curly hair and brown eyes with a skinny but athletic build. He is going to be much smarter than his brother and a better kid. He knows that what they are doing is wrong and is terrified of their parents.

We would have to get two of our parents to play the part in our video. We would want the typical parents, the dad being more relaxed and easy going, while the mom is much more strict and scary.

There will be many more characters but won't have major significance as they are needed to fulfill the plot.

GENRE!!!!!

Welcome back to the blog!!!!!

Today my group and I met up through a face time call to discuss various aspects of our project. We came to the conclusion that the genre for our project is going to be action/adventure. Below I will drop some characteristics of the action/adventure genre:
    - A hero
    - A quest
    - A villain
    - The risk

In our project we are going to incorporate some of these characteristics. For example, we are going to have a hero which is going to be the protagonist that takes charge in cleaning the house before the parents get to the house. The quest would be the problem that the characters would have to solve, being the clean up of the house. The villains are the parents that would ground their kid for throwing the party. Lastly, the risk would be them being caught by their parents.

THE TRANSITION

Hey there, Welcome back!!

Thank you to everyone that has been joining these series of blogs but now is when it really starts to get serious. These past few blogs I have been working on mini projects that were all to get me prepared for the portfolio project. This is the biggest project of the year, in which we have to create a 2 minute clip of an opening film. I know that my group will do a great job on it though, especially because we have worked so well together in the past projects.

Although we barely had any time to talk about the project during class, we came up with some general ideas. Aaron suggested we did our film on a group of teenagers that had a party while their parents were on vacation. It would end off on a cliffhanger, leaving the viewer anxious wondering if the parents find out. We would use one of our houses as the location of the party, bring the appropriate props for a party, and gather up friends as the guests to make it realistic. We haven't decided anything official yet but as soon as we do, you'll be the first ones to know!

I am extremely excited to start this project and I can't wait to keep all of you guys with me throughout the process. I will be documenting all of my progress on this blog, the good times and the bad times. So make sure to stay tuned and never miss a post.

Music Marketing Project Part 2!!!!

WELCOME BACK!!!!!!

Final post about the music marketing project!

Aaron and Javier took care of the research, our hopes as a group was to include details in our case study that would assist viewers in better understanding our band and the message we were attempting to convey. We examined the marketing tactics and the ways that the most well-known music labels engage their fans. We were considering how to use this love song to both improve the world and reach out to individuals while we planned and discussed. As a group  we wanted to focus our band on helping save nature.

In our music video we tried using an extended metaphor. We wanted to compare the man that treats his girlfriend terribly to how people throw trash to the floor. Then, the main character (me) would pick her up from the floor, referring to people picking up the trash from the floor. I was helping the girl which compared to people helping nature. An important aspect of our production was to use sustainable clothing and instruments to spread our message.

I took care of the editing for the music video, I started off by putting all the videos in order. Then, I started to crop out portions that we didn't need. Syncing the song to the music video was by far the hardest part, I spent hours trying to perfectly time it. I believe I did a great job on it, I sent it to some family and friends to get their opinions and they loved it. We also got great feedback in class during our presentation.

The presentation couldn't have gone any better. We started off a little bit nervous but once we picked up some momentum we did amazing. Everyone was dying of laughter the whole time. At the end they started asking us questions and we answered them perfectly. Everyone was so surprised as to how we pulled it off and did such a great job. Once we were done everyone got up and started clapping. Additionally, on the peer reviews we got a lot of 100%.

Throughout the whole process of this project I learned that working as a team was truly the most important part. Our communication through our snapchat group chat was crucial. This is where we set up dates and talked about the project outside of school. Everyone did their part and it was executed perfectly. Some aspects that are going to help me tremendously while doing the Cambridge portfolio, is the ability to work as a team to get a huge project done. This has been the biggest project we have done so far and the biggest project of the year is coming up. This project taught us how to manage time better and improve in all the skills that go into a project, for example, editing, brainstorming, research, etc.
